According to Caddle’s Daily Survey Panel, a majority of Canadians (61.9%) consume smoothies – homemade and/or store-bought- weekly or more.
With this in mind, Caddle asked 7,817 Canadians about their thoughts on smoothies.

Deep Dive into Demographics
The younger generations are more conscious of what they eat these days and as a result are more likely to consume healthier foods – like smoothies. When asked how likely they are to consume smoothies in the next 3 months, 37% of Millennials and 35.8% of Gen Z answered very likely followed by only 26.9% of Gen X and 19.2% of Baby Boomers.
Further looking at smoothie consumption, women tend to consume more smoothies in the first half of the day (52%) as compared to men (43.6%) who prefer having smoothies from afternoon to night.

Cost vs. Flavour
An interesting insight when we further look at smoothies is that the most important factor when purchasing it from a store is not price with only 9.9% of Canadians considering it. The major factor contributing to the purchase of smoothies is “taste/flavour”(22.2%), especially among the younger generations.

Has the Pandemic Affected Smoothie Consumption?
Surprisingly a majority of Canadians have not changed their consumption habits since the pandemic. When asked “How often you consumed smoothies during the pandemic versus before the pandemic”, a majority (34.3%) said no change.
