The produce department is having its moment.

Despite persistent challenges—rising prices, shelf life, quality and supply disruptions—demand for fruits and vegetables has been on a steady incline.

Canadians want local produce. 48% of Canadian grocery shoppers prefer to purchase locally grown produce, 74% consider local to be produce grown within 100km of where they purchase fruits and vegetables or grown within their home province and 24% consider local to be anything grown in Canada.
