March Break 2024 Holiday Shopping in Canada Survey | National Consumer Research – Caddle & RCC
Caddle surveyed ~8,800 Canadians from across the country in January 2024 to explore insights for retailers around consumer shopping behaviours for March Break. Here are the significant insights from our study in partnership with the Retail Council of Canada (RCC).
- 83% of Canadians who plan to spend this year on “March Break” related purchases plan to spend as much or more than last year.
- While only about 20% of Canadians say they normally do something special for “March Break”, the spending can be significant. 73.1% of these Canadians spend more than $50.00, with 20% spending between $51-$100 and 19.5% spending more than $400.
- The top categories for “March Break” spending are entertainment (41.2%), Food, alcohol, and restaurants (35%) and clothing (19.2%). Almost 60% of “March Break” purchases will be made in person at a retail location.
